A pregnant woman and her 6-year-old son are recovering after a scary hammer attack in Rhode Island around noon on Saturday.
According to a GoFundMe fundraiser, “Allison and her son were attacked by an unknown person as they were leaving their home to celebrate the birthday of one of her other children. Allison’s fiancé and three other children were not” at their Cranston home at the time.
Allison was discharged after being treated for a fractured nose, cuts and bruises, and a foot injury. Her son suffered a fractured skull and has a bruise on his brain. He’s going to need intensive therapy for physical and emotional damage.
According to GoLocalProv, police arrested the suspect, later identified as Rashad Talley. A family member of Talley’s reportedly told officers he has a mental illness.
The attack appears to have been random.
Court records say that Talley has been charged with Felony Assault and/or Battery and Battery by Adult Upon Child < 10 Causing Serious Bodily Injury. He was issued $2,000 cash bail.
