Popular Westport cafe, creamery, bakery, and convenience store under new owners this week
A popular Westport store will be under new ownership this week.
The Head Town Landing Country Store on Old County Road announced in February that Rory and Kathy Couturier were transitioning to new owners.
The pair issued an update on social media on Thursday.
“Our Sincere Thanks and Warm Farewell
“After 17 wonderful years, our time as owners of the Country Store is coming to a close. This week, we’re officially passing the torch to new ownership — marking the start of an exciting new chapter for the store and our community.
“Building this business has been such a big part of our lives. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your support over the years — and for all the memories, friendships, and everyday moments we’ve shared. Getting to know so many of you and being part of your daily routines has meant the world to us, and it’s what we’ll miss most.
“While we’re stepping away, the store isn’t going anywhere. We’ve worked closely with the new owners to make sure everything transitions smoothly. The bakery will still be serving the same donuts and pastries you know and love, and the creamery and coffee center will continue offering all your favorites. We truly believe the Country Store is in great hands, and we hope you’ll join us in giving the new owners a warm welcome.
“We look forward to seeing you all around town and wish you all the best.
“Kathy and Rory”
According to their website, Rory and Kathy Couturier bought the small convenience store at the Head of Westport in 2008. They began construction with the vision of restoring the store to look and feel more like the old-time country store that originally stood there in the 1950s. Rory grew up spending summers in Westport and he really wanted to” make the store a gathering place for families to come and enjoy all that the Head has to offer.” The Couturiers re-opened the convenience store in August of 2008 with the addition of a cafe and creamery. They have since added a large penny candy display, products from a variety of local vendors, expanded the bakery selections, and most recently opened up Rory’s Donut shop.”
The convenience store is accessible by car and boat, and the creamery offers more than 40 flavors of Bliss Ice Cream and Del’s Frozen Lemonade. It also serves lunch including Coney Island hot dogs, grilled cheese sandwiches, soup and chili and an assortment of Nat’s Sandwiches. The store carries a large selection of products from local businesses such as J.C. Wagmore Natural Dog Treats, Town Farm Tonics, Leo’s Farm Fresh eggs, Arruda’s Dairy Milk, David’s Coffee Syrup, honey from local Westport and Dartmouth farms, and a number of other novelty made in MA products.
