Poll: Massachusetts Governor Healey job approval at 55%
BY COLIN A. YOUNG
Most Bay Staters approve of the job Maura Healey is doing as governor of Massachusetts while an even greater share of residents here disapprove of President Donald Trump’s performance, a new poll found.
The online survey conducted last month by The MassINC Polling Group and sponsored by CommonWealth Beacon found that 55% of the 1,000 residents polled approve of Healey’s job performance — 20% said they “strongly approve” of the governor and 35% said they “somewhat approve” of her as the state’s chief executive.
Another 18% of people polled “strongly disapprove” of Healey and 15% said they “somewhat disapprove” of her job performance (33% total disapprove). Eleven percent of respondents were unsure about Healey.
In February, a survey of 700 Massachusetts voters for UMass Amherst and WCVB found that Healey had an approval rating of 52% while 36% of voters disapproved of the Democrat’s performance as governor. Healey is seeking reelection as governor in 2026 and so far has drawn two potential Republican challengers.
The limited poll results released Wednesday also took residents’ temperatures on Trump and U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr.
Trump has an approval rating of 35% here, the poll found, with 17% saying they “strongly approve” of Trump’s presidency and 18% saying they “somewhat approve” of the Republican’s performance in office. Sixty percent of Bay Staters disapprove of Trump, including 48% who said they “strongly disapprove.”
Thirty-four percent of people polled approve of Kennedy’s job performance, 21% “somewhat approve” and 13% “strongly approve.” Most disapprove of his tenure as HHS secretary — 41% said they “strongly disapprove” and 15% said they “somewhat disapprove.”
