Police: Search crew finds missing woman deceased in Massachusetts

A missing woman has been found dead in Massachusetts, authorities say.

According to Westford Police, at approximately 1:00 p.m., on Friday, 73-year-old Margaret Hammersley was located deceased in the water of Forge Pond along the wood line near the town line of Groton by a NEMLEC Search Team member.

Westford Police began searching for Hammersley Thursday in the area of Bradford Street and Pleasant Street.

Hammersley was reported missing Thursday morning in her hometown of Nashua, New Hampshire. Her vehicle was located unoccupied Thursday evening in a parking lot along Pleasant Street in Westford.

The investigation remains on going and is being conducted by the Westford Police Department Special Services Division along with Massachusetts State Police Troopers assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
