Police: Rider ejected, motorcycle ends up in yard, after fatal crash on Route 53
Hingham, MA – A fatal crash involving a motorcycle is currently under investigation.
According to Lt. Steven Dearth, on Thursday, at just after 10:30 p.m., Officers responded to reports of a crash involving a motorcycle on Whiting Street (Route 53) at the intersection of Derby Street.
There were no other vehicles involved.
The motorcyclist was transported to South Shore Hospital but did not survive.
Preliminary investigation indicates the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Derby Street at a high rate of speed approaching the intersection of Whiting Street. The motorcycle passed an eastbound vehicle on the right on Derby Street then struck the median curb on Whiting Streer. The motorcyclist was ejected, and the motorcycle continued into the yard at 173 Whiting Street.
The name of the victim was not released.
