Police officer, 3 others, injured in crash between cruiser, Uber driver, on Cape Cod

Four were injured, including a police officer, after an early morning crash Sunday.

According to police, at 1:00 a.m., a Harwich Police Officer was involved in a motor vehicle crash with another vehicle. The crash occurred at the intersection of Harbor Road and Route 28.

Three 21-year-old males, who were passengers in an Uber, were transported to Cape Cod Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Police Officer was also transported to Cape Cod Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The Police Officer has been treated and released from the hospital. The status of the three male Uber passengers is not known.

The crash is being investigated by a Brewster Police Officer who is a member of the Cape Cod Regional Crash Reconstruction Team. A portion of Route 28 was closed for approximately 2 hours while the vehicles were removed and the police conducted their on-scene investigation.

Preliminary investigation shows that the police cruiser was traveling along Route 28 when the Uber driver turned onto Route 28 from Harbor Road and into the path of the police cruiser.
