Agreed. It’s disgusting how many people get animals then Theo them away. Especially during the pandemic, EVERRRYYYone thought “hey let’s get a dog finally!” And got one. Then when everything went back to almost normal, they “couldn’t handle it anymore/no time etc”. And that’s where the HUGE increase in shelter & rescues animals especially dogs, suddenly increased so greatly in such a short time that we are STILLLL struggling with available options for people who can’t keep their pets any longer. Shelters & rescues have turned people away for so long, & still are because there’s simply NO ROOM for more animals! I mean if the gov can fund all kinds of other “less important” matters, then why can’t they give more funding to shelters & rescues so they can expand their locations in order to double their max amount of pets…& so they can afford to hire more employees especially including professional dog behavior specialists to be able to work with each dog, a few each day every day & properly assess them, which they do not have the ability for that now. If the dogs stressed they immediately pass judgement & they end up on the euth list.
So the gov should help more with funding to ALL shelters & rescues so we can save more & see less of stupid incidents such as this. And sadly this sort of thing happens all the time. They can’t get them into a shelter or rescue so they dump them, leaving them usually VERY FAR from home… sad. But that seems to be the only REAL way to get a shelter/aco/rescue to take it seriously & take in the pet.
But yeah people are also just that careless and inconsiderate & stupid that they keep get pets and then they dump them. I just discovered I have a neighbor who does this with cats. She gets them. Doesn’t fix them. Eventually throws them outside cuz she gets mad about them peeing everywhere. & then eventually just has her eldest child drive the cat to unknown locations & dump them off there. It’s completely unnecessary & totally heartless & I wish there was more we could do to protect animals these days.
