Police looking for Bristol County man accused of attacking and stabbing his stepfather
Police say that they are looking for a Massachusetts man accused of an attack.
According to Chief Ronald Sellon, Jr., on Tuesday evening, shortly before 11:00 p.m., dispatchers from Southeastern Massachusetts Regional Communications Center received a 911 call from a party reporting he had just been attacked and stabbed while outside the residence at Pine Needle Lane. The victim reported the subject fled on foot into the neighborhood and was no longer in sight.
Officers were immediately dispatched to the residence, contacted the victim, and arranged for his transport to an area hospital by the Mansfield Fire Department. Officers learned that the victim and the suspect were known to each other and that the altercation was unprovoked and occurred while the victim was exiting his vehicle in the driveway. The victim was able to identify his attacker as his stepson, Edward Curtis Riboul, also of Pine Needle Lane.
Responding officers began conducting a search of the area and secured the scene for detectives. Command Staff was notified and a large perimeter was established. Mutual aid from Foxboro PD and MetroLEC were called in to assist with the search. Officers deployed three drones and conducted a grid search of the area. Crisis negotiators from MetroLEC began attempting to contact Riboul through his cell phone but were unable to make contact. A reverse 911 was broadcast to the area out of an abundance of caution.
Officers conducted an exhaustive search on foot and by air for over three hours before ending the search. Detectives and investigators worked through the night and continue today in an effort to locate Riboul. The Mansfield Police Department has reason to believe that Riboul is no longer in the Mansfield area.
Mansfield PD asks that if you have knowledge of Riboul’s whereabouts or have any information to share regarding this incident, to contact Mansfield Police Department Detective Patrick Pennie @ 508.261.7301 x61348 or dial 911 for immediate assistance. If you see Riboul, do not approach and call 911.
Riboul is a black male, 23 years of age, 6’1” in height and approx. 180lbs. He was last seen wearing all-black clothing.
Mansfield Police Department has obtained an arrest warrant for Riboul for the charges of A&B Dangerous Weapon (Knife) and A&B Household / Family Member
