Police issue update on pedestrian crash involving Fall River man, Somerset woman
SOMERSET — Chief Todd Costa reports that the Somerset Police Department is investigating a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on Saturday night.
At approximately 5:00 p.m., Somerset Police and Somerset Fire responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian in the area of 1176 County Street.
A preliminary investigation determined that a Dodge Caravan struck a female pedestrian, 50, of Somerset, as she was crossing County Street.
The female pedestrian was treated at the scene by Somerset Fire. She was transported by Somerset Fire Department to a nearby hospital for further treatment of injuries.
The driver, an 84-year-old Fall River man, remained at the scene and is cooperating with an ongoing investigation. He did not report any injuries.
Washington Avenue and Doris Avenue were closed during the investigation and reopened at 8:05 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation by the Somerset Police Department, Somerset Patrol Unit, and the Detective Division.
