Police issue new information as they search for public’s help in fatal Middletown crash
The Middletown Police Department continues to investigate the fatal hit and run accident that happened on May 22nd on West Main Road that claimed the life of Elias Velasquez Chavez of Newport.
Police are seeking to identify a dark colored sedan that is seen on video travelling at a high rate of speed southbound on West Main Road. Video shows the vehicle speeding through the Town of Portsmouth and continuing south into Middletown just prior to the accident. The accident happens at approximately 11:15 p.m. in the area of West Main Road and the entrance to Harbor Village. The suspect vehicle then turns around in the Burger King parking lot and heads north on West Main Road. The suspect vehicle continues to travel at a high rate of speed as it heads north through Middletown and Portsmouth around 11:30 p.m.
Anyone that may have been travelling on West Main Road on May 22nd between 11:00 pm and midnight and recalls a speeding vehicle is asked to call the Middletown Police Department Detective Division at 401-846-1144 or the anonymous tip line at 401-842-6516.
