Name released in fatal Route 24 crash that killed one, seriously injured another
Police are investigating a fatal crash that took place Monday morning.
According to Dave Procopio of Massachusetts State Police, at approximately 10:55 a.m. Massachusetts State Troopers from the State Police-Milton Barracks responded to a rollover crash with serious injuries on Route 24 northbound, prior to Route 139, in Stoughton.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a Lexus sport utility vehicle went off the right side of Route 24 northbound and rolled over multiple times.
The driver, a 47-year-old female from Boston, was trapped in the vehicle and was extricated by first responders. She transported by ambulance to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries.
The front seat passenger, an adult male, was ejected and was transported by ambulance to Boston Medical Center with serious life threatening injuries. The passenger was pronounced deceased at Boston Medical Center. The victim’s name released by police is Sylvester Jones, 69, of Brockton.
The right lane of Route 24 North prior to Route 139 in Stoughton was closed. Personnel from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and the Troop H Detective Unit were assisting patrols at the scene.
