Police investigating road rage incident with gunfire that began on Route 44
RAYNHAM — Chief James Donovan reports that the Raynham Police Department is investigating an incident where shots were fired at a vehicle following an apparent road rage incident tonight.
At approximately 8:35 p.m., Raynham Police officers responded to South Street East in the area of Ashley Way for a report of a road rage incident.
The victim, a 38-year-old man from Taunton, told responding officers that he believed his vehicle had been struck with something. Upon investigation, it was determined that the victim’s vehicle had been struck with a bullet.
The victim reported that the road rage incident began in Taunton on Route 44 near the 99 Restaurant. He stated that the suspect vehicle chased him at a high rate of speed to South Street East in Raynham.
The victim did not report any injuries.
The suspect is described as a black male with short dreadlocks and wearing a white shirt. The suspect vehicle is described as a newer model dark red Honda Civic. The vehicle fled the area following the incident and has not been located.
The incident remains under active investigation by the Raynham Police Detective Unit. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Raynham Police Department at 508-824-2716.
