Police investigating after fatal afternoon crash on Route 105
MIDDLEBOROUGH — Police Chief Joseph Perkins and Fire Chief Owen Thompson report that the Middleborough Police and Fire Departments responded to a fatal single-vehicle crash on Sunday afternoon.
At approximately 12:30 p.m., Middleborough Police and Fire responded to Thompson Street (Route 105) just south of Plain Street for a report of a serious motor vehicle crash.
Upon arrival, first responders discovered a vehicle that had crashed into a tree.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 66-year-old Middleborough man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Thompson Street is currently closed to traffic between Plain Street and Precinct Street as first responders remain on scene. Motorists should seek an alternate route.
Middleborough Police are investigating the crash with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Prevention and Control Unit.
