Police investigating after 74-year-old man found deceased near Fall River, Tiverton line
Police are investigating after a man was found dead near the Fall River and Tiverton line on Tuesday.
According to police, at just after 7:00 a.m., officers from the Tiverton Police Department, along with Tiverton Fire Department EMS personnel, responded to the area of 100 Bay Street for a report of an unresponsive male lying on the ground.
Upon arrival, officers and EMS personnel located a 74-year-old male in the parking area of a garage at that location. EMS personnel determined the male was deceased.
The scene was secured and a preliminary investigation was conducted. Surveillance footage from the property was reviewed and showed the individual present in the area beginning during the evening hours of January 19, 2026. The footage did not indicate any interaction with other individuals, nor did it reveal any evidence of foul play.
The Rhode Island Office of the State Medical Examiner was notified and responded to the scene. The Medical Examiner took custody of the body and will conduct further examination to determine the cause and manner of death.
Police say that at this time, the incident is not considered suspicious, and there is no threat to the public. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The Tiverton Police Department extended its condolences to the family and appreciates the cooperation of the public during the response.
