Police in Massachusetts warning the public after encountering fake money
A Massachusetts police department is warning the public to be on the lookout for fake bills.
The Brockton Police Department has encountered fake notes like the one pictured above.
As you can see, circled in red, this bill clearly indicates that the currency is not real.
If you encounter suspicious cash, report it to your local police department immediately.
Here are some tips for identifying counterfeit money:
Genuine currency has intricate security features that are difficult to replicate.
You should be able to see a deeply engraved portrait on both sides of the bill, watermarks on both sides, and a thin vertical line known as a security thread.
Check the texture: Genuine money feels rough, while fake bills may feel smooth.
