Police in Massachusetts rescue cub after mother and two other cubs killed in crash
Police in Massachusetts rescued a cub after three family members were killed.
According to Greenfield Police, Friday evening at approximately 8:43 p.m., Greenfield Police Officers responded to Route 2 for a mother bear and 2 cubs that were killed after being struck by a car.
Upon arrival, officers heard squealing and found a very scared third cub that was able to seek refuge and safety by climbing a tree. Knowing the danger the now orphaned cub was in, Officer Lagoy and Purinton, were able to rescue the cub.
They placed the cub in the back of the cruiser and brought it to the police station. AMR assisted by providing a kennel to keep him safe.
Police cared for the cub overnight until a wildlife specialist picked the cub up and brought it to Tufts Wildlife Clinic in the morning for care.
