Police in Massachusetts looking for level 3 offender after reported incident involving teenaged girl
Police are looking for a Massachusetts man after an incident that took place this week.
According to police, on Tuesday, at approximately 5:45 p.m., Marshfield Police received a call regarding a suspicious man driving in the Humarock area of Marshfield.
The driver pulled up to a teenage girl out jogging offering her a ride and when she declined, he followed until she ran away.
The vehicle and operator were located by Marshfield Police on the Scituate side of Humarock area, and he was identified as 53-year-old Edmund David Chance Jr., a registered level 3 sex offender.
It was later determined that Chance failed to register when moving as is required by law for a level 3 sex offender and Scituate Police have a warrant for his arrest for this violation.
He has previously been convicted of rapes and indecent assault and battery on a person aged 14 or older.
Chance was last seen driving a Black Lincoln Zephyr Ma. registration 4NWY15.
He had been residing at 23 Hawthorne St. on the Scituate side of Humarock.
If this vehicle or person is seen, notify police immediately.
Marshfield Police thanked the brave young woman who contacted them to report the incident.
