Police in Massachusetts looking for driver who reportedly shot grandmother, struck officer

Chelsea Police are looking for the above vehicle that fled into East Boston Friday over the Chelsea St Bridge after striking an officer. The operator is also believed to be related to a shooting from Thursday in Chelsea.

Chelsea Investigators and State Police Detectives assigned to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the Thursday shooting in front of 87 Washington Ave. Chelsea Officers responded to that address at 1:08 p.m. on a report of gunshots involving two or more individuals. Officers located a female gunshot victim shortly after on Everett Ave. The victim, a 68-year-old Chelsea resident, was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She is reported to be in stable condition and expected to survive.

Police state the female victim was not involved in the altercation and was shot as she entered her motor vehicle after leaving a business a short distance away from the involved individuals.

Witnesses reported seeing a male run from the scene along with a silver sedan that fled the area at the time of the shooting.

The officer was struck during a traffic stop, was treated, and did not go to the hospital.
