Police foot pursuit after traffic stop leads to arrest of 18-year-old, seizure of stolen gun
State Police say that they have arrested an 18-year-old concerning a stolen firearm after a traffic stop and foot pursuit.
According to Rhode Island State Police, Wednesday morning at 2:43 a.m., Troopers arrested Mekhi Roderique, of Providence, Rhode Island for License or Permit Required for Carrying a Pistol, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of a Crime of Violence, and Obstruction of an Officer in Execution of Duty.
The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop for speeding on Hartford Avenue in the City of Providence and a brief foot pursuit. The pistol was checked through NCIC and found to be stolen out of Manchester, New Hampshire in May of 2021.
Roderique was transported to State Police Headquarters where he was processed and held for a morning arraignment at Sixth District Court.
