Police, Fire, RISPCA combine to arrest man for third time this year on animal cruelty charges, 48 animals seized
A local man has been arrested for the third time this year on animal cruelty charges.
The Rhode Island SPCA, with the assistance of the Pawtucket Police Department, Pawtucket Fire Department, and an Animal Control Officer, arrested 21-year-old Scott Ellis and his girlfriend 22-year-old Danielle Lefrancois on August 1.
According to RISPCA, Ellis and Lefrancois have been charged with 3 counts of unnecessary cruelty to animals.
Ellis was held at the Pawtucket Police Station due to a bail violation of his previous arrest. As a condition of a prior arrest in May, Ellis was ordered to have no custody of animals pending adjudication.
This is the third cruelty case against Ellis since January.
The 36 animals that were seized this month are currently being cared for by the Rhode Island SPCA in addition to the 12 seized in May.
