Police department announces death of active-duty Massachusetts officer
A Massachusetts active-duty police officer has died this week, according to the department that he served at.
The department released a statement from Randolph Chief of Police Anthony Marag concerning the officer’s passing.
“It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the death of Lt. Jeffrey Chaplin, who passed away off duty Thursday night due to a medical emergency.
“Lt. Chaplin was a 25-year member of the Randolph Police Department. His dedication to service and the law enforcement profession was always at the forefront. He was a friend to us all and will be greatly missed by the men and women of the Randolph Police Department.
“Lt. Chaplin leaves behind his wife and two children. Please keep his family, friends, and members of the Randolph Police Department in your thoughts and prayers during this time.”
