Police arrest man who reportedly stole Amazon delivery van, struck police cruiser
A Massachusetts man has been charged after leading police on a chase in a reportedly stolen vehicle.
According to Massachusetts State Police, at approximately 6:35 p.m. Wednesday, Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police was advised that Norwood Police was in pursuit of a possible stolen Amazon delivery van on Route 95 northbound in Needham. Numerous State Police assets, including K-9, Air Wing, and cruisers equipped with tire deflation devices responded to assist.
State Police joined the pursuit on Route 95 northbound as the van approached Route 9, which then continued on to Route 9 westbound. During the pursuit the van struck a Needham Police cruiser and continued on. As the pursuit lead on to Glen Road in Wellesley Troopers deployed a tire deflation device, which struck one of the vehicle’s tires.
Within several minutes the van turned on to Glenbrook Road, which is a one way, and eventually came to a stop. The operator was subsequently taken into custody without incident at 7:23 p.m. and was transported to State Police-Framingham for booking. The operator has been identified as Cameron Mignon, 23, of Sharon. Mignon is being charged with Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Crash, and Failure to Stop for Police. He will likely face additional charges by local police departments as well.
