Police arrest leader of Hells Angels Motorcycle Club at headquarters
Colonel James M. Manni, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety, announces the arrest of the president of the Rhode Island Chapter of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club on a charge of felony assault as part of an active and ongoing investigation.
Joseph M. Lancia, age 28, of 40 Fanning Lane, Greenville, was arrested at approximately 1:40 p.m. today by members of the Rhode Island State Police Intelligence Unit and the Violent Fugitive Task Force as part of an investigation into reports of shots being fired in the vicinity of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Clubhouse located at 161/163 Messer Street, Providence.
State police arrested Lancia at the clubhouse without incident. A search warrant was later executed at the clubhouse by members of the RI State Police Intelligence Unit and the Tactical Unit.
Lancia was transported to State Police Headquarters where he was processed and held overnight.
He is scheduled for arraignment Thursday, June 13 at Sixth Division District Court in Providence.
This investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.
