The Stoughton Police Department is actively investigating a reported attempted child abduction that occurred at Halloran Park on Saturday.

At approximately 7:26 PM, the Holbrook Regional Emergency Communications Center received a call from a mother reporting an attempted abduction of her children from the playground at Halloran Park. Officers were dispatched at 7:34 PM and arrived on scene at 7:37 PM. However, officers were advised by the HRECC that the calling party had left the park and did not wish to speak with an officer at that time.

Later that evening, at approximately 9:59 PM, the mother came to the Stoughton Police Station to provide a report. She stated that the attempted abduction occurred at approximately 6:30 PM.

According to the mother’s report, a young white female child, estimated to be between six and seven years old, attempted to lead her children toward an older model dark-colored Jeep Cherokee. This vehicle was reportedly parked near the Jones School side of the playground. According to the mother, the young white female got into the Jeep, which was operated by a white male driver, and left the area.

The Stoughton Police Department is urging anyone who may have been at the park between 6:30 PM and when officers arrived at 7:37 PM and may have witnessed this incident or has any information related to it to contact the SPD at 781-344-2424.

Patrol officers have been assigned to conduct extra checks of the Halloran Park area as the investigation continues.
