Police and Fire Departments respond after 53-year-old pedestrian struck on Route 44

A Bristol County man was injured after a collision with a vehicle.

According to Sgt. James Casey, on Monday just before 6:45 p.m., members of the Rehoboth Police and Fire Departments responded to the area 469 of Winthrop Street (Route 44) for the report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle.

On arrival, Officers discovered that a 53-year-old Rehoboth man had been struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the road on foot.

The pedestrian was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by Rehoboth EMS with what appears to be serious non-life-threatening injuries.

The operator of the vehicle remained on scene.

The incident remains under investigation by the Rehoboth Police Department.
