HINGHAM-A Brockton man who allegedly raped a developmentally delayed victim at an adult day rehabilitation facility, has been deemed dangerous, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz has announced.

On February 19, Chidiebiere Fred Onyebiri, 39, was arraigned in Hingham District Court on one count each of Rape, Indecent Assault and Battery on a Person 14 or Over, and Indecent Assault and Battery on a Person Over 60/Disabled. The Commonwealth moved for a dangerousness hearing, and that was held today in Hingham. Judge Maurice Flynn found sufficient evidence for dangerousness, and Onyebiri was held without bail.

On January 8, a female client of Road to Responsibility, Inc., an adult day habilitation program in Norwell, reported that she was sexually assaulted by a then unidentified staff member when he assisted her to the bathroom. The victim was evaluated South Shore Hospital.

On January 9, Norwell Police contacted the state Disabled Persons Protection Commission to file a report, and the investigation began. Several staff members at Road to Responsibility, Inc. told investigators that Onyebiri had been assigned to the victim’s care that day. As a result of the investigation, Norwell Police developed probably cause to arrest and charge Onyebiri, and he was taken into custody.

Onyebiri is next scheduled to appear in court on March 18.
