Plymouth County K9 locates missing disoriented man with dementia
Local law enforcement located a missing man in a situation that could have had a much different outcome.
Chief Michael Jenkins reports that early Sunday morning at 2:53 a.m., East Bridgewater cruisers were dispatched to the Harvard Street area for an elderly man with dementia that had wandered off and was missing. Caller stated that that they fell asleep around 9:00 p.m. and when they woke up, they had noticed he was missing. The man wears a tracking device, but he had removed it prior to leaving.
Sergeant Ferreira and Officer Bersani responded and checked the area while awaiting the arrival of K-9 Officer DeJesus and K9 Thor as well as a drone from Bridgewater PD. Sergeant Ferreira, Officer Bersani, K-9 Officer DeJesus and his partner Thor searched the heavily wooded area while Officer Kilgour with the drone checked for heat signals.
K-9 Officer DeJesus and K-9 Thor located the disoriented man in the woods sitting on a rock. He was treated on scene by East Bridgewater Fire/EMS and transported to the hospital.
