Plymouth County District Attorney announces arrest in murder of 29-year-old man
BROCKTON – Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz and Rockland Police Chief Nicholas P. Zeoli announced today that a man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a Rockland resident.
Yesterday, investigators obtained an arrest warrant for 34-year-old Kevin Denis. At 3:00 p.m., members of the Plymouth County State Police Detective Unit, assisted by the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, Rockland Police, and Brockton Police, executed the warrant at 165 Carl Avenue in Brockton. Denis was taken into custody and transported to Rockland Police Department for booking.
The incident occurred around 9:35 p.m. on November 11, when Rockland Police received a 911 call reporting gunshots near 75 Deering Square. Responding officers and medical personnel found a 29-year-old man inside a parked vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to South Shore Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The victim was identified as Darnel Andre of Rockland.
Rockland Police enlisted the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office to lead the investigation. Detectives conducted interviews, during which witnesses described seeing a thin male in dark clothing fleeing the scene. The Massachusetts State Police Airwing and a drone were deployed for a ground and air search. Through the ongoing probe, detectives developed probable cause against Denis, securing the arrest warrant.
Denis is scheduled for arraignment on the murder charge in Hingham District Court on Monday. The case was investigated by Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and Rockland Police.
