Playing strategy pays off with $1 million prize on Powerball ticket purchased in Massachusetts
DORCHESTER, MA (October 2023) – A New Hampshire resident has won a $1 million prize on a Powerball ticket purchased in Massachusetts for the multi-state game’s Saturday, October 7 drawing that featured a $1.4 billion jackpot.
Jonathan Bulmer of Chester, NH won the prize after the first five numbers on his Quic Pic ticket matched those selected in the drawing.
Bulmer, who said he likes to play when the jackpot gets this high, claimed his prize on Wednesday, October 11 at the Massachusetts State Lottery’s Dorchester headquarters.
Bulmer is the second New Hampshire resident in five weeks to win a $1 million prize on a ticket purchased in Massachusetts, joining a Hudson, NH resident who won their prize in the “$10,000,000 Gold” instant ticket game on September 6.
Bulmer purchased his winning ticket at A.L. Prime Energy, 2083 Bridge St. in Dracut. The store receives a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.
Dracut currently ranks 19th in calendar year 2023 lottery sales among all cities and towns in Massachusetts. Dracut is one of three municipalities in the top 20 that border New Hampshire, joining Haverhill and Methuen.
