Places to cool off in Fall River area are about to open ahead of possible heat wave

With the possibility of temperatures being in the mid 80s to mid 90s the next 5 days in southern New England, here are some places that you can soon, or already, cool off.
The Veterans Memorial Pool at 339 Eastern Ave in Fall River is scheduled to open on June 21st and close August 17th. Pool hours are from 11:15 a.m. to–6:45 p.m. seven days a week.
Horseneck Beach in Westport is already open from 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. The daily parking fee charged through October 13th is $14 for MA residents and $40 for non-MA residents. Beach services, including lifeguard services and public restrooms, are available until Labor Day (weekends only through 6/18).
Demarest Lloyd State Park in Dartmouth is already open from 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. on Saturday/Sunday and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The daily parking fee charged through September 1st is $12 for MA residents and $40 for non-MA residents.
The Fall River splash pads are already open.
The Freetown State Forest spray deck is already open from 10:15 a.m.-5:45 p.m. until September 13th.
The Swansea Town Beach just opened for the season. Here are the details:
Gates open at 9:00 AM and an attendant will be on duty until 5:00 PM (weather permitting), gate is closed at dusk.
- Life Guards will be ‘on duty’ from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (weather permitting)
- Beach house facilities, including rinse stations, will be open daily from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (weather permitting)
- Accessible Porta-Jon is located at Ramp #3, adjacent to the reserved Accessible Parking at the entrance to ramp.
- Accessible Parking at ramp #1.
The Town has implemented a “carry-in, carry-out” approach for beach trash. This means that all beachgoers are responsible for taking their trash with them when they leave, ensuring a cleaner environment and helping to reduce litter on our beautiful beach. Let’s work together to keep our beach pristine!
Beach passes can be purchased at the Swansea Town Hall, located at 81 Main St., via cash (Please bring your car registration). They are also available at the beach during regular operating hours, where payment can be made by credit or debit card only.
All fees collected are for parking at the facility, which is required for those wishing to use the beach, grass area, playground, or restroom facilities. Additionally, there is a free 1-hour parking option for those looking to use the playground or take a stroll along the beach.
