Pet dog dead, driver seriously injured in crash on Route 495
A crash this weekend on Route 495 northbound left a dog dead and the dog’s owner seriously injured.
The crash took place near Route 123 just before 6:30 p.m.
According to ABC 6, a vehicle was pulled over without its lights on in the left lane when a 38-year-old female driver crashed her vehicle into a 31-year-old Mansfield man, who was outside of his car, in addition to hitting the car itself.
The 38-year-old driver suffered minor injuries in the crash, while the dog passed away and the dog’s owner was sent to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries. Medflight was put on standdown, however the 31-year-old victim was transported via ambulance.
The accident caused lane closures which left traffic at a standstill.
The crash is still under investigation.
