Person of interest in stabbing of former Fall River mayor Will Flanagan in custody
A person is in custody after the stabbing of a former Fall River mayor on Monday.
According to police, at approximately 8:30 this morning, the person of interest involved in the stabbing of Will Flanagan was apprehended and placed under arrest.
At this time, detectives are processing the arrest. Once the individual has been arraigned on charges, they will release their identity and photograph.
At approximately 5:00 p.m., multiple calls were received reporting that a male had been stabbed near the 100 block of Hartwell Street, near the Cosmopolitan Dispensary.
Fall River Police and Fall River EMS immediately responded and discovered that the victim was former City of Fall River Mayor Will Flanagan.
Police stated that Flanagan sustained significant injuries and was transported to an area hospital, where he is currently listed in serious but stable condition.
