Person ejected, killed in Route 495 crash this morning
A person has been killed in a serious early morning crash.
According to Dave Procopio, at 2:19 a.m. Troopers from the State Police-Concord Barracks responded to a rollover crash on Route 495 north, south of Route 38, in Tewksbury. The crash resulted in the fatality of a young adult male.
Responding Troopers, along with Tewksbury Police Officers who also responded, determined the victim had been ejected in the crash. Tewksbury Firefighters and EMS performed attempted life-saving measures on scene. The victim was transported to Lowell General Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The victim Chris Otero, a 21-year-old male from Haverhill, was operating a 2008 Honda Accord coupe.
The crash remains under investigation by Troop A of the Massachusetts State Police, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. Troopers were assisted on-scene by Tewksbury Police, the Tewksbury Fire Department, and EMS.
The left lane at the crash site remains closed to accommodate the ongoing investigation.
