Parts of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut are expected to see heavy rains and strong winds.

According to the National Weather Service, a period of showers and thunderstorms will continue Saturday. While not everyone will see heavy rain, there’s potential for localized downpours—especially across western Massachusetts and northwest Connecticut.

Rainfall totals will vary quite a bit. Most areas will see 0.5–1.5″, but western Massachusetts and Connecticut could pick up 2–3″, with isolated higher amounts. This could lead to street flooding in poor drainage areas.

A Wind Advisory is also in effect until 10 p.m. for Washington County, Southern Bristol MA, Southern Plymouth MA, Barnstable MA, Dukes MA, Nantucket MA, and Newport RI.

Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected.

Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and some power outages may result.

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
