Paraprofessional for Fall River Schools who knitted hats for individuals undergoing cancer treatment has passed away

OBITUARY

Diane J. (Couture) Ramunno, age 68, of Fall River, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Paul E. Ramunno, with whom she shared 42 years of marriage.

Born in Fall River, Diane was the daughter of the late Leo and Pauline (Martel) Couture and remained a lifelong resident of the city she loved.

A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, Class of 1976, Diane continued her education at Fisher College. She devoted her career to working as a paraprofessional for the Fall River School Department with pre-k special needs children, until her retirement in 2015. Never one to slow down, Diane continued serving others as a driver for People Incorporated.

Diane embraced life with a joyful spirit. She loved relaxing at the beach, camping with family, trying her luck at the casino, and watching the Boston Red Sox. Creative and thoughtful, she enjoyed scrapbooking, diamond art, and knitting hats for individuals undergoing cancer treatment. Known for her great sense of humor, she loved making others laugh and was happiest when she was helping someone in need.

Above all, Diane was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest happiness came from spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, who brought endless joy to her life.

In addition to her husband, Paul, she is survived by her loving son, Jacob Ramunno and his wife, Kerrie Tripp-Ramunno, of Fall River; her daughter, Kate Ramunno, of Fall River; her cherished grandchildren, Alina and Tripp; her sister, Elaine Silva of Westport; her brothers, Gary Couture and Carl Couture, both of Westport, Mike Couture of Warren, Steve Couture of Fall River, and Chris Couture of Fall River; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dogs, Benson and Emma, and her cat, Jethro.

Her visitation will be held Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter Street, Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited.
