Parade, food, entertainment, and reverence to hit Holy Ghost Feast in Fall River
Looking for some great food and entertainment along with reverence toward the Holy Ghost? That is exactly what is headed to Fall River.
The Great Feast of the Holy Ghost is taking place at Kennedy Park in Fall River from Wednesday August 21st to Sunday, August 25th.
The schedule of the feast is as follows:
Wednesday (August 21)
6:00 PM Recital of the Rosary followed by “Soup” of the Holy Spirit, served under the tent in the park.
Thursday (August 22)
7:00 PM Opening of the Celebrations in Kennedy Park with the lighting of the Park.
7:00 – 8:00 PM Tuna Masculina from the Azores University
8:00 – 9:00 PM Band Faith
9:00 – 10:00 PM Mullet Band
10:00 – 11:00 PM The Portuguese Kids
Friday (August 23)
6:00 PM Blessing and distribution of the “Pensões” presided by his Excellency D. Gilberto Delio N, dos Reis, bishop emeritus from the Setubal Diocese, Portugal, D. Edgar Moreira da Cunha, bishop of the diocese of Fall River, Dignitaries with the Lira de Sao Francisco Band in accompaniment.
7:00 PM Inauguration of the Handicraft, from Portugal and local.
8:00 – 8:30 PM Folia from Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Providence, RI
8:30 – 9:00 PM Dances of the “Dispensa Mar e Terra USA” from Vila of Rabo de Peixe.

Saturday (August 24)
9:30 AM Bodo de Leite and Ethnográfic Parade from the Gates of the City to Kennedy Park via Columbia St. to Kennedy Park, offering sweet bread and milk to all present, in honor of the Holy Spirit.

12:00 PM Solemn Coronation Mass at Saint Mary’s Cathedral, presided by D. Gilberto Delio N. dos Reis, Bishop emeritus of Setubal, Portugal and D. Edgar Moreira da Cunha, bishop of Fall River.
2:00 PM, Procession with all Brotherhoods & Philharmonic Bands from New England , our guests D. Gilberto Nelio N. dos Reis, bishop emeritus of Setubal, Dr. Paulo Teves, Regional Director of Communities, Dr. Shelly Pires, Portuguese Consulate in New Bedford representing the Portuguese Community of New England, Jasiel Correia, Mayor of Fall River, Robert DaSilva Mayor of East Providence, RI and other religious and civil dignitaries. The procession will follow a new route, from the Cathedral, Spring Street, 2nd Street to 3rd St. then left onto Sullivan Street, West to South Main St., to Kennedy Park.
5:30 – 7:00 PM –Concert by Recreative Band of Peabody & Saint Cecilia’s Band of Fall River.
