Paint work, structural repair for 2 years to cause temporary lane closures on I-195 in Swansea
SWANSEA – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is announcing that it will be conducting bridge painting and structural repair operations on the Route 6 over Interstate 195 Bridge in Swansea. The work is scheduled to begin on Sunday, September 13, and will continue during scheduled evening and daytime hours for 24 months. The work will require temporary lane closures. A minimum of one lane of traffic will always be maintained on I-195.
The overnight operations are anticipated to begin on Sunday, September 13, and will be conducted nightly, from Sunday through Friday, during the hours of 9:00 p.m. through 5:30 a.m. the following morning. The work will require lane closures on I-195 in the eastbound direction, and then subsequently shift to lane closures in the westbound direction. Lane closures are subject to change as work progresses. There will be left lane closures on I-195 eastbound for the next two weeks, while exit 3 remains open.
The daytime operations will begin on Wednesday, September 16, and will be conducted daily from Monday through Friday during the hours of 7:00 a.m., to 3:30 p.m. All lanes will remain open during daytime work operations.
Drivers who are traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.
All scheduled work is weather dependent and/or may be impacted due to an emergency.
