Owner suffering severe health crisis unfortunately leads Ruby back to Fall River Forever Paws
Meet Fall River Forever Paws Pet of the Week Ruby!
You might recognize Ruby. She was adopted from Forever Paws back in January. Unfortunately, her beloved dad is going through a severe health crisis and couldn’t continue to give Ruby what she needs…but it’s very obvious that he put some intense work into this girl.
Ruby is about 4.5 years old and she’s a doberman mix. She’s about 38lbs and could stand to put on a few more but won’t be getting any bigger…just a little heavier. If you remember Ruby, you remember that she had major “stranger danger” senses – those are still in play but seem to be MUCH less intense now. She’s still a little wary of new people but is happy to say hello and she was content to snuggle right up to the staff and the volunteers that she remembers.
She’s a happy, sweet girl who does well on a leash but does get a little pully when she’s excited. She’s good with her cues but doesn’t like sitting still for too long. She loves her toys, especially plush toys, and will entertain herself by throwing it up in the air and catching it or carrying it around for emotional support. She’s a nosy girl and loves being all up in whatever you’re doing. Her dad did say that she has separation anxiety so crate training is STRONGLY recommended, or someone who works from home and can be with her a majority of the time.
Ruby previously lived with cats and was fine with them. She can be very barky with other dogs at first but eventually gets over it and enjoys running around with them. Kids 12+ because she can still be a little nervous and anxious at times.
