Owner of Fall River’s Sweet Rose Cafe announces closing date

A Fall River well-regarded all-vegan café and bakery known for plant-based breakfast and lunch fare has announced they are closing. At least for now.

Lisa Normandin announced on social media Saturday that Sweet Rose Cafe at 268 Highland Avenue will close next month.

“After a lot of thought, I have made the difficult decision to return to teaching and close Sweet Rose Cafe.

“Our last day will be on or before September 26th. We plan to remain open with a limited menu through September 26th, if staffing allows, in order to give our incredible team time to find new employment. Bakery items will be available on weekends only.

“This has not been an easy decision. Sweet Rose Cafe has been such a special part of my life, and I am incredibly grateful for every customer who has supported us, shared a meal with us, recommended us to a friend, and allowed us to be part of your lives.

“I also want to give a huge thank you to our incredible team, both past and present. Sweet Rose would never have been what it is without the people who have worked alongside me, taken care of our customers, and poured so much of themselves into the cafe. I am truly grateful for each and every one of you.

“While this chapter is coming to an end, I’m not ruling out a return! Opening Sweet Rose seasonally during the summer is a possibility, so this may not be goodbye forever.

“Thank you for all of your support, kindness, and love over the years. Sweet Rose has been so much more than a business to me, and it truly means more than I can say.”

SRC opened in 2019 and serves sandwiches, paninis, wraps, salads, quinoa bowls, soups, smoothies, coffee drinks, and vegan baked goods.

The café is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

It has earned recognition over the years, including a spot on Yelp’s Best 100 Places to Eat in New England.
