Over a dozen residents displaced, online fundraisers created after blaze destroys much of Fall River home
We have an update on a Fall River fire over the weekend that caused extensive damage and has left over a dozen residents displaced.
According to Chief Jeffrey Bacon. at just after 1:00 p.m., the Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 743 Hicks Street.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire and smoke showing from a three-story wood-frame residential building.
All residents were reported to be out of the building.
Crews quickly brought the fire under control, with significant damage sustained to the second and third floors and attic.
No civilian injuries were reported. Two firefighters were evaluated for heat stress/overexertion and were cleared by medical personnel.
The building’s gas and electrical services were shut off.

Among the victims was Fall River Pride Committee President Sean Connell.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Fall River agencies and the Massachusetts State Police Fire Investigation Unit.
