Outpouring of community support for “amazing family” who lost 3-year-old daughter in pedestrian crash
There has been an outpouring of community support for a Massachusetts family facing an unthinkable tragedy.
Cape & Islands District Attorney Robert Galibois and Sandwich Police Chief Jason Keene announced on Sunday that the Sandwich Police Department received a 911 call reporting a pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle.
At approximately 3:30 p.m., first responders were dispatched to the area of the Service Road in East Sandwich between Quaker Meeting House Road and Chase Road for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel located a 3-year-old child who was injured. The child was transported to a nearby hospital and later succumbed to their injuries.
The driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
A friend of the family has organized a GoFundMe fundraiser that has raised over $50,000 as of this writing.
The organizer, Brittany Woodward, told Fall River Reporter that she is friends with one of the daughters and that they are an amazing family. The deceased child has been identified as Riley.
