One seriously injured in car accident in Fall River
Fall River Police are investigating a car accident that left one person seriously injured.
On Monday December 31 at approximately 3:30 p.m., Fall River Police responded to the area of Highland Avenue and Prospect Street for a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian who was struck by a car.
Upon arrival, Fall River Police located a female in her 40s suffering from serious injuries. Fall River Fire Department Paramedics also were dispatched, rendered emergency care and transported the female to Rhode Island Hospital for further treatment.
Earlier reports of this being a hit and run incident are not true according to police. The operator involved did stop at the scene and is currently being interviewed by officers as part of the investigation. The operator’s identity is not being released at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
Fall River Police Motor Vehicle Crash Reconstructionists and Crime Scene Unit were dispatched to the scene to aid in the investigation.
The female victim remains at Rhode Island Hospital in critical condition. FRPD stated: “As this investigation concludes and the condition of the female changes, we will release further details. No further information will be released regarding the victim’s identity.”
