One dog deceased, several people displaced in Fall River fire Thursday
Firefighters battled a fire in the south end of Fall River Thursday.
FRFD responded just before 7:30 p.m. to heavy smoke showing out of a chimney at a single-family home at 988 Stafford Road.
According to scanner transmissions, a partial ceiling collapsed while firefighters battled flames in the upper level of the home. The fire eventually spread to the first floor.
All occupants vacated the home without injuries, however, according to fire officials, 5 residents have now been displaced due to the extensive damage to the home.
Officials stated that responders on scene treated both a pet dog and a pet cat that had been rescued from the home, but sadly, the dog did not survive. The pet cat recovered and was alive as of Thursday night.
The fire was under control just after 8:00 p.m. as firefighters checked for hot spots.
Approximately $150,000 in damage occurred to the home.
