One dead, others injured, after evening head-on crash on Cape Cod

A weekend Cape Cod crash claimed the life of one person and also left others injured.

According to police, at just after 8:45 p.m., Sandwich Police responded to the area of 87 Farmersville Road for a report of a head on two-vehicle crash.

Upon arrival, Officers found a 2011 Toyota Prius with a sole male operator and 2017 Toyota Rav-4 with three occupants. Both vehicles had sustained significant damage.

The investigation revealed that the crash occurred while the Prius was traveling west on Farmersville Road and the Rav-4 was traveling east on Farmersville Road.

The operator of the Prius was in critical condition and was transported to Cape Cod Hospital by the Sandwich Fire Department. He would later succumb to his injuries. The occupants of the Rav-4 were all transported to Cape Cod Hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Sandwich Police were assisted by members of the Barnstable Police Department, Barnstable Country Sheriff’s Department, and the Massachusetts Environmental Police.
