One arrested, three injured, including Massachusetts State Trooper, after crash on Route 24 shuts down highway
Three people were injured, including a Massachusetts State Trooper, in an early morning crash.
According to Massachusetts State Police, at about 1:00 a.m. today, a Trooper had stopped a car on Route 24 in West Bridgewater and was out of his cruiser when the cruiser was hit by a drunk driver operating a pickup truck.
The cruiser was pushed into the Trooper, causing minor injuries. Two other people were also transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton with minor injuries.
The alleged drunk driver was arrested. Ildo Wilson De Pina, 38, of Taunton will face charges of OUI liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, move over law violation, and marked lanes violation.
Route 24 southbound was closed for approximately an hour and a half to accommodate the clean-up and crash investigation.
