Officials release names of two from Massachusetts killed in 5 vehicle crash on Route 495

The names of one woman and one man, both from Massachusetts, that died Saturday in a 5-vehicle crash on Route 495 have been released.

According to Massachusetts State Police, just before 4:00 a.m., Massachusetts State Troopers responded to calls of a crash involving five vehicles and which resulted in the death of two of the drivers. The crash took place on I-495 South at the 29.8 mile marker in Mansfield, causing the closure of all southbound travel lanes.

When Troopers arrived on scene, they discovered three vehicles in the right breakdown lane and two vehicles in the center median. One of the vehicles was a gray Honda Civic operated by a 32-year-old Dorchester woman who succumbed to her injuries on scene. A 27-year-old Norton man was operating a VW Passat and was also determined to be deceased on scene.

Crystal Blake and Roland Roberge were the two fatal victims in the crash, according to Gregg Miliote of the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.

Blake is being remembered by those who knew her as a positive person who was one of a kind and a good friend to many.

Those who knew Roberge described him as a gentle, kind, and loving person.

Both will long be remembered as their loved ones are coming to grips with what might have been with two young lives tragically cut too short.

A 44-year-old man from Brockton and a 46-year-old woman from Attleboro were also injured in the crash.

The crash is under investigation by Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and the State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section.
