Officials looking for public’s help as Seekonk fire deemed arson, $5,000 reward offered
Seekonk – The Seekonk Fire Department and State Fire Marshal Peter J. Ostroskey said the fire earlier this month at 60 Pond Street in Seekonk was intentionally set.
“Anyone with information regarding this fire, or any fire in the state, is asked to contact the Arson Watch Reward Program at 1-800-682-9229,” said State Fire Marshal Ostroskey. “Investigators have posted this toll-free and confidential number in the area near the fire, and we encourage anyone with knowledge of the circumstances to use it.”
The Seekonk Fire Department and State Police assigned to the Office of the State Fire Marshal jointly investigated the fire, which took place on the morning of June 8, 2021, at a vacant residential building.
“A fire at an unoccupied building is still very dangerous, and setting a fire there is still a crime,” said the Seekonk Fire Department. “We urge anyone with information on the Pond Street case to share it with investigators.”
The Arson Hotline is part of the Arson Watch Reward Program that offers rewards of UP TO $5,000 for information that helps to solve the case. The property and casualty insurance underwriting companies of Massachusetts fund the program.
