Officials confirm tornado near Bristol County line, other communities victim of microburst wind damage
Fire Chief Justin Alexander and Police Chief Keith Boone report that the Easton Fire and Police Departments together with the Department of Public Works are continuing to respond to damage caused by yesterday’s inclement weather.
At this time, the Easton Fire and Police Departments are working alongside the Department of Public Works to respond to and address damage that has been sustained from yesterday’s storm.
According to National Grid, approximately 200 Easton residents remain without power at this time.
Easton first responders are working with National Grid to ensure safety as crews restore power to those affected.
According to the Brockton Emergency Management Agency, one of the storm survey teams has confirmed an EF1 tornado with an estimated peak wind of 105 mph in Massachusetts along the Foxborough/Easton town line.
Path length and width were estimated at 400 yards and 100 yards respectively.
Straightline/microburst wind damage was verified in Brockton, East Bridgewater and portions of Easton.
Better weather on Sunday has allowed the affected communities to clean up.
