Officials confirm cause of death after dead body found at Fall River waterfront
A tragic discovery was made Sunday afternoon on the Fall River waterfront.
According to Captain Barden Castro, at 12:44 p.m. the Fall River Police Department received a report of a body floating in the Taunton River in the vicinity of Battleship Cove. Fall River Police and Fire responded to the scene and were able recover the body of a deceased male.
Detectives from the Fall River Police Major Crimes Division as well as State Police Detectives assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office conducted the investigation.
According to Gregg Miliote of the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, the cause of death has been ruled a suicide. The male jumped from the Charles Braga Bridge.
