OBITUARY

With heavy hearts, we share that Jason “Tex” Everett Vasquez, age 51, passed away on January 29, 2026, in New Bedford, MA.

Jason was a son, brother, uncle, Marine Reservist, fisherman, captain, and – most of all – a generous soul who loved deeply. He spent over 25 years as a scallop fisherman and licensed 100-ton captain, and he lived life with joy, laughter, and purpose. Jason was known for blessing others quietly and consistently, always reminding us he was “Living the Dream.”

He loved his family, golf, fine dining, investing, and had a unique sense of style. He was an “AUTHENTIC DYNAMO!”

Above all, Jason held a sincere faith in God, (he used the true name YAHUAH!) and had a deep and strong belief in Jesus (or as he called Him, YAHUSHA).

“My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” – John 10:10 (NLT)

Services will take place at 149 Bridlepath Drive, Jackson, Tennessee on February 28th from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. RSVP is encouraged but not required.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made to Seamen’s Bethel & Mariner’s Home, 15 Johnny Cake Hill, New Bedford, Massachusetts 02740 or online at www.nbportsociety.org

A memorial in South Texas will take place in April. The New Bedford Port Society will hold their Annual Memorial Day Event on Monday, May 25th where Tex will be remembered.

Forever loved. Deeply missed. Never forgotten.
